Hope you are all enjoying this lovely Monday...
First, I must say how wonderful it was seeing all the kids participating in the Jump Rope for Heart on the 11th of February. The kids were having so much fun doing all the different activities. Even the parents that came and volunteered were jumping around and having fun. So, thank you parents for all your help and support.
Second, I would like to thank all those parents that came out on Valentine's Day. It was great seeing so many families enjoying the afternoon with their child, as well as the smiles on all the children's faces. And for those of you who could not make it but sent something special for your child, you should know that as I delivered their special treats, their faces just lit up knowing that they were being thought of. All in all it was a fabulous day, so thank you.
Next, this is just a reminder that tomorrow kicks off our book exchange. Students may bring in their sli
A couple of reminders...
Tomorrow is our monthly board meeting at 8:15am in the MPR. Note the change of location due to the parent tours. Speaking of which, tomorrow at 9am are the parent tours for those interested in coming to Madera as a school of choice. If you are available to stick around and answer questions please do so.
Friday is Jump Rope for Heart. Volunteers are needed during recess time to help man the various stations that will be set up. It is from 9:30am to 10:30am. One short hour that is loaded with fun.
Then on Monday the 14th, PTA will once again host its annual Lunch with Your Valentine. Flyers will be sent home with the Madera Messenger this Wednesday with all the details.
And rounding out our busy month of February, our annual Book Exchange and Read Across America event. Kids can bring in their slightly used, age appropriate books that they no longer want before school to the patio area on Tuesday the 22nd thru Thursday the 24th. No books will be accepted on Friday the 25th which is the actual day of the exchange. A flyer will be sent home next week detailing the week's events and how it all works. If you have questions now, just let me know. Also on the 25th we will celebrate Dr Seuss' birthday with the Read Across America day. Readers will come to the classrooms to read, depending on the teacher's schedules. If you are interested in being a reader or helping out during the exchange please let me know.
Finally, each year we like to honor those volunteers that have gone above and beyond for our school and our students. If you know of any volunteer at Madera that deserves to be honored nominating forms are available in the school office. Once you have filled one out, place it back in the envelope marked HSA nominees no later than February 25th. Our committee will get together and select this year's winners.
Thank you everyone for all your hard work this year.
First, thank you to Dyne Kniseley for an amazing night of Zumba. About 20 parents showed up to Zumba the night away. It was a great event and I hope we can do it again for those parents that missed out.
Don't forget that February is School of Choice month. Schools are offering tours every Tuesday morning during the month of February. So if you know of anyone that is interested in attending Madera have them stop by on Tuesday morning for the royal Madera treatment.
So how can you help Madera earn extra money while shopping??? If you shop at Ralph's, Vons, Macy's, Office Depot, Target and a few other places, your shopping dollars can help Madera. To find out how, contact Debbie Edwards or Patty Reese in the school office for all the details.
Now how many of you like Jamba Juice??? Well guess what??? You can now purchase a yummy Jamba Juice and help out our school. A new program is being offered by our local Jamba Juice Store (Madera Rd). All you have to do is go to our school office and ask for your very own Jamba Juice swipe card. Then when you go and buy a Jamba Juice at the Madera location the cashier will swipe your card. Jamba Juice will then send Madera a percentage from those sales. It's a win-win for everyone. You get that yummy treat and our school gets money and finally our students are the ones who will ultimately benefit from it all. So hurry in and get those swipe cards from Debbie and Patty. Tell a friend!
Next we have Jump Rope for Heart coming to Madera, Friday the 11th at 9:30am until 10:30am. It is a fun hour of activities for our students. We need volunteers to come out and help with some of the games. It's only for an hour, and trust me when I say it is a lot of fun. So if you are interested in helping out, please let me know.
Then on Monday the 14th we have our annual Lunch with Your Valentine. Flyers will be sent home next week detailing the event.
Finally our Book Exchange and Read Across America event is scheduled for the week of February 21st. We are off school on the 21st, so the events will start on the 22nd. Flyers will be sent home soon. Volunteers are needed to help the day of the exchange and to read to classes on Friday the 25th. If you are able to help, please let me know.
PS Our monthly board meeting is this Tuesday, the 8th at 8:15am in the MPR. Note the change of location due to the school tours.
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
