This is just a quick update regarding our Harvest Festival planning meeting. First, a huge thank you to our committee – Julie & Joel Orme, Kathleen Janiszewski, Melissa Klain, Jen Rosenstein, Misty Dawson, Elizabeth Fortuna and Rachel Ford for all your fabulous ideas and dedication to making this event rock!!!! You guys are the best and I thank you.
So last night the Harvest Festival/Silent Auction planning committee met to go over some ideas for this event. We discussed whether we should continue with a prize redemption room or hand out smaller prizes at each game booth. It was suggested that we do wrist bands for those who want to pay one price, then the holder of the wristband would have unlimited access to all games and rides, but still sell tickets for food and those that do not plan on playing too many games. We also decided to have a 50/50 raffle, as well as continuing to raffle that coveted second parking spot. But instead of charging $25 for the parking raffle, we’ll lower it to $5 a ticket. Finally, we discussed options for food, like whether we should continue with hamburgers and hotdogs, try pizza or something totally different. If you have any thoughts or ideas regarding this, please contact our food chairperson, Melissa Klain at Melissa.firstname.lastname@example.org.
As for the auction, if you own a business or know somebody that does, and you would like to donate an item towards the auction, please contact Julie Orme, our auction chairperson, at email@example.com. And if you own a business or know somebody that does but cannot donate an item, perhaps you would like to be a sponsor instead. Those that become sponsors will have a banner posted during the event, as well as advertising in our catalog, newsletter and website. So if you are interested in sponsorship you can contact Julie for that too. Or if you want to help solicit companies throughout Simi, let Julie know and she’ll set you up with flyers and other information.
Volunteers will be needed the day of the event. If you or your family would like to run a booth, or work an hour shift, please contact our volunteer coordinator Jen Rosenstein at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will also have sign-ups at kindergarten orientation and our Welcome Back to School Social on the evening of the 24th of August.
Finally, if you just want to be involved in some way or another, please feel free to contact me or any other board member to find out how you can help. No job is too small or too big. There are so many opportunities for parents to be involved that only take a few minutes, while others may take a bit longer. There is always something for everyone.
I hope you and your families enjoy what’s left of summer and I look forward to working with all of you in the coming school year.
