I hope you all had a wonderful weekend…
I have a lot of information to share with you this week; hopefully I won’t leave anything out.
As part of the gift to school last year, the PTA was able to hire a fully credentialed music teacher. I would like to welcome Mrs. Ruth Drossle, our new music teacher, to Madera. She will be teaching music to our students every Monday throughout the year, starting tomorrow. This means that P3 will be closed to any parent volunteer each and every Monday. Please plan accordingly.
Starting Tuesday the 10th, our AR lab will be open before school for students to take AR tests. Parents, please remember that only your child will be allowed in the AR lab. We have parent volunteers inside to assist your child if needed. The lab will also be opened after school on Thursdays. If you would like to volunteer in the lab, please contact Kathleen Janiszewski at email@example.com.
On Tuesday the 10th, we will have our first room parent meeting at 8:15am in P3. If you are a room parent or co-room parent, please plan on attending. If you cannot, let me know so that we can make arrangements to meet at a more convenient time.
Also on Tuesday the 10th, we will have our monthly PTA board meeting at 2:15pm in P3. All are welcome to attend.
On Wednesday the 11th, the PTA will host The Brock Edwards Magic Show. This is our first assembly of the school year. Mr. Edwards will be performing magic while discussing lessons on anti-bullying. He will then host a family fun night magic show at Madera on the 27th. Tickets will go on sale soon. You’re not going to want to miss out because our very own, Mr. Hall, will be sawed in half during the show. Fun times for all!!!
Thursday the 12th, we will have our first art docent meeting at 8:15am in P3. Like the room parent meeting, it is important somebody from your class attend or let me know if we need to make other arrangements.
Also on Thursday, and every Thursday after that, we will start our Spirit Thursdays. Students are encouraged to wear their Madera t-shirts. If they do not have one, then any blue shirt will do. It still counts for our classroom competitions. Go Mustangs!!!
Our membership drive is in full swing! We are over the halfway mark to 100% membership school wide. Thank you to all that have joined. If you haven’t had the opportunity to join, you still can. Membership envelopes are available in the school office. It’s only $5 to sign up and you do not have to commit to volunteering, though we would love it if you did. Remember, Madera PTA…your Passport to Fun!
Finally, here are a few Simi Valley PTSA updates:
I am attaching two flyers. One regarding free breakfasts for students in grades k-8th, at McDonald’s and the other is for a fundraiser for The Simi Valley Education Foundation.
One other thing, Target is giving away money to schools. All you have to do is vote for your school and they will donate $1 for each vote. You can vote once a week and have your family and friends vote for Madera. Visit our facebook page, Madera Elementary PTA-Simi Valley, to connect to the Target Giveaway and vote for our school. I believe it ends this month. So show your support for Madera and vote!
Ok folks, I think I covered just about everything for this week. If you have any questions or suggestions, please let me know.
Thank you and have a wonderful week.
Madera PTA President
