Here is what's happening at Madera...
I would first like to congratulate all the students that participated in last Friday's Variety Show. What an amazing night filled with such remarkably talented individuals. They all did a fabulous job. A super huge thank you to Diane Oquist and her team for putting this all together. Each year it just gets better and better because of her dedication. And thank you parents for supporting your children and this event.
Last Tuesday was our association meeting, elections were held for next year's executive PTA board. Congratulations to the following people:
Ashley Watkins, President
Cammie Brinkman, 1st VP Programs
Kristin Tignac, 2nd VP Ways & Means
Julie Orme, 3rd VP Membership
Kathleen Janiszewski, Treasurer
Liz Hernandez, Secretary
Marian Henderson, Historian
Jesse Jansen, Auditor
Thank you to them for volunteering their time to be on the new board. The association also voted on sending two delegates to the California State PTA convention in Long Beach. Those delegates are President Liz Hernandez and President-Elect Ashley Watkins. At our next board in April, the board will decide on how our delegates will vote on resolutions on behalf of Madera.
Room Parents, there will be a meeting Tuesday, April 12th at 9:15 am to discuss Staff Appreciation Week. Please mark your calendars for this very important meeting. If you cannot attend, please send a representative from your class. As for the art docents, a meeting will be scheduled in the near future to discuss the student art show that is held in May during Open House.
Last week flyers were sent home regarding the Girls and Boys Fun nights. If you plan on attending, please return the bottom of the flyer. We have also asked each level to donate items towards the event. If you are able to, please mark that on the return form so that we know pretty much what we will be getting. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer at one or both events please let me know.
Make sure you get a copy of this week's Madera Messenger. Attached you will find flyers regarding our Tile Wall project and yearbook dedications. The Tile Wall project is scheduled for Friday, April 1st, with two different times to accommodate you. If you have any questions you may contact Kristin Tignac at firstname.lastname@example.org. As for yearbook dedications, they must be received no later than Friday, March 25th in order to make it into the yearbook. Any questions regarding the yearbook may be directed to Julie Orme at email@example.com.
Speaking of yearbook, the cover contest results are in... congratulations to Sophia Hernandez for winning the cover and to Grace Clifford for winning the back cover. It was a tough choice this year but as always each student that submitted a drawing will have their drawing displayed in the yearbook. Thank you to them all for creating some beautiful masterpieces.
Due to there not being any school this Friday the 18th, the Madera PTA Newsletter (The PACER) will be sent home on Thursday. Look for your copy in your student's backpacks so that you don't miss out on any news that is happening at Madera.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 2nd. That is when Madera's 4th, 5th, and 6th grade athletes will be competing in the city wide Jr. Olympics. Come out to Royal High and cheer for our Madera Mustangs.
Finally, on Friday April 15th, PTA will be hosting our Math/Science Fun Night. If you would like to help out by demonstrating something scientific or assist with the math games, please contact Pamela Mikita at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As you can see your PTA is busy, busy, busy, but it is all wel
