Hope you have been enjoying the first part of your week, crazy weather and all. I have a few updates to share with you at this time.
First, thank you so much to Sham Douglas, our Staff Appreciation Chair, and all the room parents. You all have done an amazing job this week of making Madera’s staff feel so special and appreciated. The banners on the doors left me speechless, which as many of you know is a difficult thing to doJ All I can say is ‘WOW’. The staff so appreciated yesterday’s luncheon. The food was amazing. I received a lovely thank you note signed by the whole Madera staff thanking our wonderful PTA parents for such an incredible lunch. Then this mornings flower collecting was phenomenal. I have been doing this for over 7 years now and I have to say that there were way more flowers today then ever. So much so that we were able to use extras to make bouquets for Mrs. Wolf, Miss Debbie, Miss Patty, Miss Cathy, Miss Teri and four for the staff lounge. So thank you parents for all your help in making this week so very special for our staff. Can hardly wait to see how all those memory books come out tomorrow. Fabulous job room parents…you should be proud!
Next week is our Spring Book Fair. It starts Monday the 23rd through Friday the 27th. It will be open before and after school with special evening hours on Thursday the 26th during Open House. All books will be 50%. The PTA will not be earning money on this. Instead we will receive books for the library. A big help with all this talk of budget cuts. Anyway, help is needed to work the book fair. So if you are available at 7:30-8:15am or 12:45-2:00 or 2:00-3:00 on Monday – Friday, please let me know. I will also need help Thursday evening at 6:00-7:00 or 7:00-8:30 (during Open House), please let me know. If you have an older student that needs service hours, they can help too.
Open House is the 26th. Classrooms will open at 6:30 for your viewing pleasure. In the MPR art from every student at Madera will be on display and student council will be hosting a bake sale. All proceeds to be used for playground equipment and books for the library. If you love to bake, please help by bringing individually wrapped items to the MPR the morning of the 26th. Even if you don’t bake, that’s ok; you can buy baked items and wrap them. Student Council will take what they can get. And if you can’t donate an item then consider buying something the night of Open House.
Finally, Thank you thank you thank you to all that wrote letters and made phone calls to our local legislators. Amazing how we can all pull together to make a difference. Thank you for speaking up and saying enough is enough. Your actions will be heard and our children will know how we fought for their future. So thank you again…
We only have 16 school days left and I must say it has truly been an honor being your president. I joke around about how excited I am to be finally finished but there is a part of me that will miss it. Especially working with all you wonderful parents. I hope in some small way I have made a difference at Madera and for our children. I know this experience has made a difference in my life. So thank you one and all for your support, time and talents. It has been amazing working for and with you…
